Hog Heaven

For Valentines Day Ron asked me if I wanted to go out to dinner. I was craving a good steak and there is no such thing near where we live so I did an Internet search for the surrounding area. I found this place in New Philadelphia which is approx. 45 miles away. When we got there the parking lot was crowded but lucked out as a truck pulled out right next to the front door! Tons of peeps inside so we put our name in and went to the bar area, we stood there a couple minutes and two people got up and left so we got to sit at the bar. I had a glass of Merlot and Ron had (of course) a beer. Met some very nice fun people that were eating at the bar. One guy had the Pork Chops and they looked wonderful nice and thick. Another lady was having the pulled pork sandwich oh yum, her husband had something that had a giant pile of mashed potatoes with gravy so big I couldn't tell what meat he had lol. We finally got our table and I talked Ron into getting the "Prehistoric Hog Eggs" which are hard boiled eggs rolled in beer batter and deep fried to a golden crisp served with Wing sauce...might sound strange but OH My they were Tasty! We both got the Prime Rib dinner with Au Jus and a special "Tiger Sauce", Ron had loaded potato and baked beans, I had loaded potato and black beans (had to have something good for me right lol) The dinner was very good and totally satisfied my red meat craving for a while. I can't wait to go back when the weather is warm to sit outside on the Tiki bar area. So if you are ever in the New Phili, Dover or Canton area be sure to stop in and grab lunch or dinner you won't be disappointed! You can link to their site by clicking my title Hog Heaven and read the entire menu and history of the restaurant. Sure was nice to get out too :D

Mud

Don't ever let anyone tell you mudding drywall is easy! Ok well maybe it is easy to apply but, talk about time consuming and messy and about as exciting as watching paint dry, (kinda the same thing lol). Ron will finish the "First" coat on the taped parts today, and I have finished all the screws at least twice some 3 coats. Whose idea was it to put 30 screws per sheet anyway?? ok maybe there aren't that many lol. What a mess when doing the ceilings too haha, splats on the clothes and floors. I have a bad habit of walking around barefoot and it is not fun when you forget to look where you are walking and step on that stuff ewww.
Yesterday Ron was doing the ceiling and a big drop of that plopped on his shoulder lol, reminded me of the time we went to Marine World and I talked him into going in an Aviary, the second he stepped in the door a bird pooped on his shoulder lol gross. But its coming along nicely and actually looking like a kitchen and dining area now :). Ron should start the texture application in the next few days yippee.
These pictures are from when we first started the mud process, you can tell because I was still smiling lol.

The Major Remodel

Ron decided he wanted the kitchen enclosed or separated from the dining/living rooms. Then I had the idea if he was going to do that we should lower the ceiling in the dining area too. And, so the fun began...I didn't realize how much um "stuff" I had jammed in the cabinets. I packed and packed and Ron carried it all upstairs, Which is probably how he got that hernia that sent him into so much pain I had to call 911 for an ambulance and got him admitted to the hospital for 4 days. Once back home Ron just couldn't stand looking at the mess so started working sooner than he should but he is doing real good now. Knowing that Ron was supposed to be recouperating from surgery, family and friends showed up to help with the heavy lifting and climbing up tall ladders. As you will see in this video Ron didn't stay sitting for long lol. We just finished putting up the dry wall and will start the taping and mudding tomorrow. I will continue to take pictures as we go and make another video showing the progress.

Happy GroundHog Day!
